Welcome to Hafod Las, our small farm nestled high in the hills, just 4 miles outside Wrexham. Since moving here in 2011, we've dedicated ourselves to nurturing the land, focusing on enhancing the habitat for native plants and wildlife. Our commitment to sustainable management reflects our love for this beautiful landscape and its rich biodiversity and fascinating history.
The Accommodation

We welcomed our first guests to the Hut in 2014. Since then we have had hundreds happy guests staying with us, many of whom come back time and time again. We wanted to create a place where couples and single travellers could relax and unwind in beautiful surroundings. In 2020 we added the Hideaway in a different part of the farm, taking full advantage of our stunning mountain views
The Farm

We grow lettuce, watercress, pea shoots, herbs and edible flowers. These are supplied to cafes, restaurants, farm shops and delis across North Wales. We also produce our cold-pressed sunflower and rapeseed oil. You can read more about our produce here.
The Animals

We raise rare breed animals that play a vital role in managing our land. Our Oxford Sandy and Black pigs happily munch on any leftover produce, our Dexter cattle thrive on the steep slopes, keeping the gorse and bracken in check to support our vibrant wildflower population. Our hens provide an abundance of delicious eggs, and our North Ronaldsay sheep participate in a crucial conservation breeding program, helping to preserve a breed listed as 'critical' by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust with fewer than 500 left in the UK.
Sustainability

We aim to use renewable energy whenever possible. Our solar panels generate around 40% of the electricity we use , and a biomass boiler provides heating for our farmhouse. We are always looking for new ways to minimise our carbon footprint and decrease our dependence on fossil fuels. Our production process for our salad crops generates minimal waste, and we utilise any that is produced on the farm whenever feasible. Any salad that doesn't meet our quality standards is either fed to our livestock or composted on-site. During the process of producing Cold Pressed Oils we create 'press cake' from the spent seeds after oil extraction. This press cake serves as a valuable feed for our livestock.
